<aside> 🍽️ Being isolated from the world outside, the Ulternians over the years came up with their own recipes — some inspired by the cuisine brought over by drifters or had been imported into the old kingdom in ancient times before being separated.

An awfully bitter berry. However it is very light, it almost feels weightless when held. Ulternians often fry it into tempura and consumed when dipped with a flavorful sauce.
This particular berry is extremely rare **to find in the Hoenn region, but surprisingly common in Ultern. Some can be freely picked in the Berry Farm in Route 2.
A relative to the Bitter Melon Stir-Fry from the Hoenn region, this is a favorite among Ulternians. It's a stir-fry dish made with tofu, eggs, vegetables, thin meat slices, and instead of Bitter Melon the highlight of the dish is the bitter Yago Berries.
Originally created in Turnbloom City. It is a snack that's basically a thin rolled-up fried pancake. It has a strong brown sugar taste, and unlike regular crepes that Kalosians would make it doesn't use eggs as an ingredient, making it mildly sweet. Old menu signs would write it as "Chinbin", which is its Ulternian name.
It's soba (buckwheat) noodles! But they aren't made of buckwheat, and instead made of just regular wheat. So they're very thick and chewy. They're different enough from the soba noodles those from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh are used to. Also on old menu signs, it'd be written as "Ultern Suba".
In Ulternian, it’s called sata andagi. This is basically just deep-fried doughnuts that are dense and crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside and are extremely sweet. The doughnuts form a large curved crack in the middle, making it look like it's smiling. It's said that eating them brings good luck!
Sometimes known locally as “Chinsuko”. Petal Biscuits are a type of shortbread made of egg, sugar and lard. It’s usually served with Jasmine Tea and is a popular afternoon teatime snack.
It’s also known as Sweet Adzuki Bean Soup — consisting of warm sweet adzuki beans and topped with mochi. This is a commonly known traditional dessert within the regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. However the Ulternian version of this dish is instead served cold and is also topped with generous amounts of shaved ice, to the point it fills up the whole bowl and covers the bean soup.
A popular dish that drifted in from the Alola region, it has ingredients similarly used to that of a taco (ground meat, seasoning, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, etc.) and served over warm fluffy rice and drizzled in salsa.
